How are you, really?

Overall the world is a hot mess right now and there's moments of beauty, tenderness and joy:

  • Serena Williams cameo in Kendrick Lamar's concert (bookended by a football game) yesterday
  • the days getting a little longer
  • catching up and spending time with friends from out of town

I'm levelling up about being in the present moment, which means noticing these sweet moments as well as noticing my sadness, fear and anger. I'm here for all of it.

Take a moment. How are you doing, right now? Like, really?

The Long Table

The Long Table is a BIPOC-majority, humanity-first business network that is designed to spark deep connections, strong collaborations, cross promotions, and organic referrals.

We’re setting the table for belonging, reciprocity, & shared success.

In the first week of announcing over 200 people expressed interest via the guest list. We need 40 people to join for this to work.

The feedback we're getting is that we're not the only people who are longning for something like this. We also heard from a handful of people that the $2500 investment is a barrier. So, we're come up with a sliding scale model: either $1000, $2500, or $3500.

Applications are open until February 17th.

Coaching

This client was looking to get clear on the next step in her career. Bravery, courage and confidence are topics that come up with a lot of coaching clients, whether that's in their careers or personal lives.

I hit 500 hours (yayyy!!!!) of client coaching and submitted my application to be a Professional Certified Coach (PCC). While I was tallying up my hours I read through all of the feedback I've received from clients over the last two years.

Three themes stood out. Clients consistently say that I'm the type of coach who:

  1. Navigates complex emotions while maintaining focus on their goals
  2. Co-creates tailored, non-traditional approaches with them
  3. Serves as both challenger and cheerleader

If I sound like a fit for you (or someone you know) please reach out, or book a chemistry session to see if we're a fit.

Taking care of ourselves and each other

The world is a lot right now. In particular I'm having a hard time with the punching down on marginalized people, especially Black and brown immigrants and trans people, especially trans youth. How do you get grounded or re-center yourself through the day? Here's a bunch of good ideas, please add yours to the list.

A practice that I've come back to is pulling a tarot card at the start of each day. Before I pull a card, I take a few breaths and get present in my body. As I shuffle the cards, I feel them move through my hands and get connected to my heart. With my spirit I ask "What do I need to know right now?" When the cards feel ready, I flip over the card on the top of the deck.

I look at the art and notice what I'm seeing in the visuals. What details are jumping out at me?

Then I read the booklet that comes along with the deck. My brain captures the words. I've been using the Lineages of Change tarot deck and the Justice card has been coming up a lot. The card asks "Do you know how important your life is?" Here's some more thoughts about that:

Do you know how important your life is?

Take care ❤️
